The Center for Cross‑Border Journalism

The Center for Cross‑Border Journalism supports and promotes documentary filmmakers and journalists whose work investigates transnational issues and challenges dominant narratives that have been shaped by ideological, social, political, or national interests.

Through public screenings, educational programs, and collaborative reporting, the Center seeks to inform audiences and expand understanding of issues that transcend national boundaries.

The Center’s core areas of focus include:

• Ecocide and environmental issues

• Political prisoners and state repression

• Work that highlights threatened cultures or communities

• Issues of gender

• Migration

• Political and corporate corruption - particularly that which crosses borders

• Work that questions ideological or social norms, including within like‑minded communities

• Political, racial and religious bigotry and violence

Submission Opportunity

The Center is currently seeking completed documentary films for potential inclusion in upcoming screenings and educational programming in Washington, DC.

Please note: Selected projects are not compensated financially at this time, including when screened publicly. All screenings will be subject to approval by the submitting filmmaker. Films that are not in English must already be captioned in English.

• Basic project information (title, runtime, year produced, brief description)

• A brief note indicating if the film contains graphic content, coarse language, or adult material. This will not affect eligibility but may help determine appropriate screening venues.
